I’m sure getting a blog in your email about our pod isn’t at the top of “this is why I signed up for BSB” list but don’t worry, we are releasing some fun things in the upcoming weeks!
The idea behind this post is to introduce you to the topics we discussed on the pod, give our take in writing and then get yours in the comments or DMs or our Twitter (preferred method). We have linked our YouTube to each segment so you can listen after reading or go ahead and follow along with just the audio. Spotify here, Apple Pod down below.
Hall of Fame Vote (2:15)
By now you know Todd got 72.2% of the vote, which is a huge jump, but ultimately falls short. It was expected that he would miss it this year even with the sliver of hope that the public ballots gave us. What got us fired up was the voters themselves. They hold a certain responsibility that they should appreciate a little more. It is frustrating seeing blank ballots and ballots with just the players of the region the writer covered. Voters are equating Steroids and Coors, and that doesn’t seem fair. Our favorite Rockies voice fired off!

National Pundits (7:02)
Aaron had some hot takes on a certain Fox Sports podcaster, and it may be a little unwarranted, but the premise still stands - the National Media loves to crap on the Rockies and look for cheap clicks and jokes. It seems like a lazy content ploy. Sure, the Rockesi dind’t address their MLB club very much, but to say “this is the extent of their offseason” is bad. Rockies have done more for the Minors this offseason than season’s past, combined. Sure, Ben has a point that the FO doesn’t seem to want to win, but they’d have to spend a lot of money and take on a lot of bad contracts to even compete with the Dodgers or Padres. (Please keep in mind that we recorded this before Monfort talked at a breakfast). Also, tiers are dumb

ZiPs Over/Under (19:00)
This was a fun exercise that is slowly becoming a tradition. Dan Szymborski releases his projections for each team, at each position, each year. He notoriously poops on the Rockies, but it is always justified with data and experience. He gives the Rockies their due where they deserve it and also keeps it fresh. Tyler and Aaron go through each position and give their Over/Under predictions for each position/player. Which position do you see overperforming?
